Andy and I have been camping this week out in Death Valley, so there hasn't been anything going on at the Casa Rana. Before we left, I ran an errand to Home Depot and found that they have Ceanothus Concha in 3.5 gallon containers for just $15. I usually have to pay about $10 a gallon for native plants, so at half price, I had to pick up one for the back garden.

It is great to see these in the generic nurseries like Home Depot and Lowes, but I doubt if it will last. They over-water everything and this California Mountain Lilac is very susceptible to a blight that comes with over-watering. I'll probably be able to get some even cheaper in the next couple weeks as they clear out the dying plants.

We harvested our pomegranates today. Our tree split in half under the weight of the fruit last year, so we only got a fraction of the fruit in this year's harvest. Our to-do list definitely includes planting another pomegranate tree.

Those things grow wild in my yard. Thanks to the rabbits, I don't have to pay for them.
